Berry College Sweeps Three on Friday

ROME, Ga—The Berry College softball team played a triple-header on Friday and won all three games. The Vikings bested third-ranked DePauw University by scores of 6-2 and 14-4. Against Sewanee, BC won 15-2.

The wins improved the Vikings to 4-1 overall and 1-0 in the Southern Athletic Association on the season. The losses dropped Depauw to 1-3 overall, and Sewanee fell to 0-1.

In the first game against DePauw, Kylie Aiken had two hits, and freshman Katlin Seger added a homerun. 

The game was close until the sixth inning when Berry scored three runs to go ahead, 6-2. 

In the second game, which finished in five innings, Sarah Moore had two hits and three RBIs. Marie Collop also added two hits

Kassie Howard (4-0) earned the win in both of the first games, pitching ten innings on the day. Collop (1-0) finished the night on the mound for the Vikes, earning her first win of the season against the Tigers.

For DePauw, Sammi Bell had two hits in the first game and in the second game Lauren Godden finished with two hits.

During the game against Sewanee, Berry's Brittany Ferrell, Lauren Evans, and Meredith Wrye all added two hits for the Vikes.

For Sewanee, Mackenzie Hobbs and Miranda Townsend both had a hit.  

Berry will take on a double-header against Sewanee on Saturday at Ford Field. Game one begins at 12 p.m.
