ROME, Ga. -- Berry College swept visiting Sewanee on Saturday at Ford Field. Game scores were 17-1 and 13-0. Both were five innings.

The Vikings improved to 15-5 and 4-0 in the Southern Athletic Association. The Tigers fell to 3-11 and 0-6.

In the opener, Andrea Cole (3-1) picked up her third win on the year, while Kate Heil (1-3) got pinned with her third loss on the year. Cole pitched all five innings. Of the 15 outs of the game, 12 were groundouts to give the Viking infield a workout.

The Vikes started hot in the first inning, taking the lead 4 to 1 with a three run home run to left field by Abby Daniels. Berry added one run in each the second and third innings to further the lead 6 to 1.

BC exploded in the fourth frame, plating eleven runs. Shelby Smith homered down the left field line, and Daniels crushed her second homer of the game to center field. Both Smith and Daniels collected three hits each and collecting nine combined RBIs, seven of which Daniels plated.

Berry took the nightcap, 13-0. Marie Collop moved to 2-1 with the win and Heil (1-4) got tagged with her second loss on the day. Collop was able to strikeout five and produce nine groundouts.

Daniels continued her success from the first game going 2 for 3 with a double and a single and driving in four runs. Savanna Wooten and Kenzie Fleming knocked two hits each.

Berry looks to continue their success tomorrow against the Tigers in another doubleheader starting at noon March 23.
