Swim & Dive Starts Strong at SAA Championships
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. — The Berry College men’s swim team headlined the opening night of SAA Championships with a first-place finish in the 800 freestyle relay Wednesday night.
Competition opened with the women’s 800 freestyle relay. Josie Hadaway, Sarah Pierce, Brooke Boyd and Haley Brown swam to a fourth-place finish with a time of 7:42.42.
Dylan White swam the lead-off leg on the men’s side, giving the Vikings a considerable lead that was maintained by Cyrus Nabavi and Bo Dyar. Jackson Parker was then pitted against Centre College in a side by side race before Parker pulled ahead in the final lap for the first-place victory with a time of 6:51.61.
The session ended with the women’s one meter diving event. Grace Bailey represented the Vikings behind the board, posting a score of 216.25.
After the opening night of competition, the women are in sixth place while the men are first.
Competition will resume tomorrow morning with the 50 freestyle, 200 individual medley and 500 freestyle.
