ATLANTA — Both Maggie Hogsed and Michael Bemis earned Southern Athletic Association Swimmer of the Week honors following impressive performances against Point University this weekend.
Leading the team in points, Bemis started the Vikings' meet as the anchor on Berry's top-finishing 200-Yard Medley Relay team, swimming a 21.41 split. He then added an additional first place finish in the 50-Yard Freestyle, clocking in at 21.27 to earn the top spot for the Vikings. Bemis rounded out the meet with a 48.56 first-place finish in the 100-Yard Freestyle as well, leading the Vikings to their 135-55 victory over the Skyhawks.
On the women's side, Hogsed added three additional top finishes for the Vikings to earn the SAA accolade. She started the meet with a 29.21 split in the backstroke leg of the 200-Yard Medley Relay, leading Berry to victory. Hogsed then swam a 1:57.88 200-Yard Freestyle, taking the individual title in that as well. She finished the meet posting a 53.63 100-Yard Freestyle, earning both a first place finish and a new pool record in the process, en route to Berry's 172-27 victory.
