ROME, Ga. — Berry College's Connor Davis scored in the 91st minute on Tuesday night, giving the Vikings men's soccer team a 2-1 victory over Covenant College. The loss was Covenant's first of the year as the Vikings improved to 6-4-1.
Freshman keeper Eli Wellman earned his first collegiate win in goal, allowing a single goal with five saves. Zachart Ernst scored in the 20th minute off a perfect pass from Henry Arato to give Berry a 1-0 lead. The team held the Scots in check until the 78th minute when Josh Brower scored off a free kick pass from Jesse Riggs. Davis then tallied the game-winner just 40 seconds into the overtime period.
Berry returns home Friday at 7:00 p.m. to host Centre College in a Southern Athletic Association (SAA) matchup.
