Men's Lacrosse Battles to Tight Loss at No. 2 Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. — The Berry College men's lacrosse team gave the 2018 national runners-up everything they could handle in the season opener, falling to No. 2 Salisbury 9-7 in a back-and-forth contest. 

Chris Berchock and Andrew Elgin led the Vikings offensively, scoring two goals apiece. Riley Brogdon faced 24 shots in goal, securing 15 saves in the outing. 

Salisbury controlled the opening quarter, scoring three straight goals. The Vikings tightened the contest after the second period, trailing 4-3 at halftime. Two goals late in the third evened the game at five goals apiece heading to the fourth quarter, but Salisbury would tally three straight to secure the win. 

Berry was nearly perfect on clears, securing 22-of-23. The Vikings were just 1-of-6 on man-up opportunities, but held even with Salisbury in all other major areas including ground balls and total shots.
