DICKSON, Tenn. — Led by an All-Tournament performance from Berry College's Andrew Porter, the Vikings men's golf team opened the season tying for second at the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) Preview on Sunday.
As a team, Berry shot 575 (-1) to tie with Oglethorpe University. The Vikings trailed Huntingdon by five strokes. Berry's "B" team placed 9th, shooting 598 (+22)
BERRY STANDOUTS:
- In his Berry debut, freshman Andrew Porter shot 140 (-4) during the 36-hole tournament. He tied for second individually.
- Henry Jones and Peter Trask shot 145 (+1) to place tied for 13th.
- Preston DeSantis and Wesley Heston shot 147 (+3), placing tied at 17th.
- Jeremy Smith rounded out scoring for the Berry "A" team, placing tied at 22nd shooting 148 (+4). Seth Jolly and Brendan Hughes also tied at 22nd.
UP NEXT:
- The Vikings will compete at the Rhodes Invitational on Sept. 23-24.
