Men's Basketball Erupts in Second Half, Scorches Owls in 102-67 Rout

ROME, Ga. — Four Vikings scored double-digits as the Berry College men's basketball team roared to a 102-67 victory over Warren Wilson to open the Vikings Tipoff Classic on Friday night.

Berry's 102 points ties the fifth-most in Berry's NCAA DIII era, pushing the Vikings to a 2-1 record on the year. The Owls fall to 0-2. 

Drew Jones had his best game of the young season, leading all scorers with 24 points on 9-for-12 shooting. He was also 4-for-5 from distance. Austin Brooks followed with a double-double off the bench, scoring 21 points and 10 rebounds. Caleb Haynes also earned his first double-double of the year, posting 14 points and 11 boards. Owen Honroth rounded out the Vikings in double figures, scoring 12 off the bench on 5-for-6 shooting. 

Berry led just 44-39 at the break, shooting just 23.1% from three-point range in the opening half. The offense then erupted out of halftime, shooting 65.6% from the field and 54.5% from distance. The team also had just three second-half turnovers and out-rebounded the Owls 55-25 on the night. 

Berry closes competition at the Vikings Tipoff Classic tomorrow at noon against Bob Jones.
