ROME, Ga. — Berry College's Elijah Hirsh has been selected to the Google Cloud Academic All-District team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA), becoming the first in program history to earn the distinction.
The program recognizes the nation's top student athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The Google Cloud Academic All-America® program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA. First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third team (if applicable) Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-March.
Hirsh, a senior from Woodstock, Ga., has been dominant for the Vikings this season. He led the team to an 18-6 record during the regular season, the team's best record since the 2008-09 season. Hirsh currently ranks second in the league with 17.0 points per game and leads the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) with 9.1 rebounds per game.
The Vikings open competition in the SAA tournament on Friday at 6:00 p.m. against Millsaps in Danville, Ky.
