LAGRANGE, Ga. — The Berry College men's basketball team fell to 4-1 on the year after coming up short against LaGrange College in the Wingate Classic Saturday night with an 85-80 final.
The Panthers jumped out to an early lead outscoring the Vikings 50-33 at the half. Berry was able to trail closely behind LaGrange for the first 15 minutes of the half, but was unable to catch up after multiple 3 pointers and an impressive offensive run by the Panthers.
In the second half, the Vikings turned up the heat by pressuring the Panthers offensively, outscoring them 47-35, making it a two possession game. This came with the help of Caleb Haynes who was 100% from the charity stripe, and was the second leading scorer for the Vikings behind Quinn Atkinson.
As a team, Berry shot 48.4% from the field and 77.3% from the free throw line. The team was also able to score 46 points in the paint.
