Men's Basketball Drops Slugfest at Centre 57-55

DANVILLE, Ky. — The Berry College men's basketball team dropped a narrow 57-55 decision at Centre College this afternoon, officially locking Berry in as the No. 2 seed in the Southern Athletic Association (SAA) tournament.

Three Vikings scored double-figures in the game that saw nine total lead changes, led by Cory Johnson who posted 12 points on 5-for-8 shooting. Myles Moore notched 11 while Caleb Haynes scored 10.

Berry shot an impressive 60.9% in the opening period and held a 33-30 lead at halftime. That percentage dropped to just 28.6% in the second period, including just 1-for-9 on three point shots as Centre escaped with its second straight SAA regular season title. The Vikings did a lot of things to win the game, including beating Centre on the boards 38-26. Centre was able to turn Berry's 15 turnovers into 13 points, however, as half of Centre's made field goals came from outside the arc.

Berry will close out the regular season on Saturday at Oglethorpe. The Vikings will return to Centre on Feb. 22 to open SAA tournament play.
