Football Leaps to No. 19 in Rankings

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. — After setting a program record with 543 yards of offense during a 48-10 win over Sewanee on Saturday night, the Berry College football team has jumped to No. 19 in the latest Top 25.

Berry also moved into the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) poll at No. 23 for the first time.

In the Tiger's first night game in the school's 122-plus year history, Berry dominated both sides of the ball from start to finish. Quarterback Slade Dale had 274 yards of offense on his own, throwing for two TDs while rushing for one more. The defense was led by senior defensive end Mamadou Soumahoro who recorded six tackles, two sacks and a forced fumble on the first play of the game.

The Vikings improved to 6-0 and 4-0 in SAA play, extending their win streak to 11 straight games dating back to last year. Berry will face Hendrix at home this Saturday for a 2:00 p.m. kickoff.

The Top 25 is voted on by a panel of 25 coaches, Sports Information Directors and media members from across the country, and is published weekly. FULL RANKINGS
