SYRACUSE, N.Y. — Berry College's Allie Robertson claimed the individual National Championship in Novice Western Horsemanship at the 2019 Intercollegiate Horse Shows Association (IHSA) National Championship, leading the Berry western team to a sixth place finish. FULL RESULTS
Robertson claimed her second career individual title, earning first at the 2017 IHSA Nationals in Intermediate Horsemanship. She also claimed second in team Advanced Western Horsemanship on Sunday.
"This year's show was really special because we had some of our seniors who had been to nationals all four years," Head Coach Margaret Ellington said. "We were able to have a mini-graduation ceremony for them. The girls worked so hard for this. Obviously we were hoping for a little better outcome, but overall the girls worked together and did a great job.
Other highlights include Berry's Sarah Cooper who competed in the AQHA High Point Rider event, placed sixth in team Open Western Horsemanship and took eight place in team Reining.
Sarah Wood claimed seventh in Walk-Trot Equitation. Hannah Atsma also earned seventh in team Novice Western Horsemanship. Kasey Locke claimed third in team Beginner Western Horsemanship. Finally, Grave Bowers took eighth in team Intermediate Western Horsemanship.
