Vikings place fourth in the nation

HARRISBURG, Penn. -- Sunday marked the last day of the 2013-2014 season for the Equestrian Vikings. The Western team finished in 4th place (18 points) of nine teams. Ohio State won nationals with 29 points. The University of Findlay placed second with 25 points and St. Andrew's University placed third with 24 points.

Saturday was the third day of competition for the lady Vikings. Berry had Taylor Eickhoff riding for the team in Beginner Horsemanship. She put five points on the board with her reserve champion placing. Andrea Smith rode in the horsemanship phase of the AQHA High Point Rider and was ranked6th out of 26 riders heading into the horsemanship phase on Sunday.

Sunday was the final day of the 2014 National competition and Berry had five riders competing in six different classes. For the team Cecilia Shields-Auble was reserve champion in Advanced Horsemanship; Kellsie Knolin was third in Intermediate Horsemanship; and Andrea Smith was seventh in Open Horsemanship.

Individually, Sam Brown received an honorable mention in Intermediate Horsemanship and Elizabeth Ellis placed fifth in Advanced Horsemanship. Andrea Smith rode in the Reining phase and placed fourth to put her fourth overall in the AQHA High Point Western Rider.

Overall the team had an amazing season and held their own in a highly competitive field of the best riders and teams in the country.
