Baseball Falls in Season Opener at Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. — Despite an early lead, the Berry College baseball team dropped their season opener on the Tuesday night at Piedmont College 11-3.

Tyler Calvert doubled in his first at bat of the season, scoring the first run of the game off a sacrifice fly from Devin Post. The Lions responded by scoring two runs in the home half of the second to take the lead. Piedmont plated four in the third before Calvert scored once more off an error in the fourth inning.

Dylan Beasley earned an RBI single in the fifth, but Piedmont's bats refused to cool as the Lions plated 11 total runs. 

J.T. Eggert earned the loss in the outing, as six total pitchers saw action.
