GREENSBORO, N.C. - The Berry College men's golf team finished their 2026-27 season opener in 13th place at the Gate City Invitational, hosted by Greensboro College Tuesday afternoon.

The Vikings finished with a final team score of +32, climbing up three spots 16th to 13th on the second day thanks to a strong round three.

The freshman duo of Mason Seaton and Jack Polansky led the way for the team as both finished in the top 20 individually. Seaton finished tied for 14th with a score of 216 (E), performing exceptionally well in rounds two and three. He shot -2 in round two thanks to three birdies and an eagle on hole 11, and ended round three with a -4 thanks to six birdies.

Polansky finished tied for 17th place with a score of +1, matching Seaton's round three with a -4 as well by carding five birdies. In the other two rounds he finished with a +2 and +3.

David Zachok was tied for 66th individually with a +15, Andrew Sandberg finished tied for 73rd with a +17, and Owen Weber rounded out the squad in 94th with a +27.

Huntingdon won the invitational with a team score of -9, four strokes ahead of second place Kenyon (-5). Shenandoah took home third place with a -2, followed by Methodist in a distant fourth place (+9). Lastly, Greensboro rounded out the top five with a team score of +17.
