Vikings Picked Second in 2026 SAA Preseason Poll

| By:
MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Fresh off a historic run to the NCAA Quartefinals the Berry College football program was picked to finish second in the SAA preseason poll.

The Vikings had a historic season last year as they hosted three playoff games for the first time after winning their seventh SAA Championship by finishing 11-2 overall and 7-0 in the SAA. The Vikings took down LaGrange and Trinity last year in the NCAA playoffs before their season came to an end against John Carroll in the quarterfinals.

The Vikings will look to build off last season with top returner and D3Football.com preseason All-American McCormack Langford on the offense line. Last year Langford was named a D3Football.com All-American and received All-SAA honors.

Senior Andrew Turner will also look to break out as the starting quarterback after putting up some great numbers and performances last year as the backup quarterback. Last year as a backup Hunter was 58 of 93 for 773 yards and nine touchdowns in the air while rushing for 628 yards and 17 touchdowns on 127 attempts.

Junior Cameron Coleman returns as the top receiver option finishing last season fourth on the team with 296 yards and two touchdowns on 15 receptions.

Head Coach Tony Kunczewski, the reigning AFCA Division III Region 3 Coach of the Year and SAA Coach of the Year is returning for his 14th year in charge.

With a lot of turnover for the Vikings, Trinity earned themselves the top spot in the SAA preseason poll with 54 total votes and five first place votes. The Vikings were right behind with 52 points and three first place votes.

The regular-season champion will receive the SAA's automatic qualifying bid to the NCAA Division III Playoffs.
