Egure Finishes 13th to Earn Second Team All-American Honors

| By:
LA CROSSE, Wis. - One day after Macy Murdock wrapped up her career Onoyeme Egure finished up her Vikings career at the 2026 NCAA DIII Outdoor Track & Field Championships on Friday afternoon at Veterans Memorial Stadium on the campus of UW La Crosse.

Egure competed in the second flight of the Shot Put finishing 13th overall with a throw of 13.07 meters to earn Second Team All-American honors for the second year in a row.

Egure adds to her incredible season which includes becoming the first Viking to earn First Team All-American honors at the NCAA DIII Indoor Track & Field Championships earlier this season. Egure also earned USTFCCCA All-Region honors this year in both the indoor and outdoor season as well as All-SAA Honorable Mention honors in the Hammer Throw. She also had a great indoor season as she was named SAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Year and also won the Weight Throw to pick up SAA First Team honors.

An integral part of the Vikings program, Egure's incredible career also includes being the Vikings only four time female NCAA qualifier as she earned Second Team All-American honors in both indoor and outdoor last year. A USTFCCCA All-Region recipient three years in a row in both indoor and outdoor Egure finishes her career as a five time SAA Champion in the Shot Put in both indoor and outdoor. She also earned Second Team All-SAA honors in the Weight Throw and the Discus in 2025 while being named SAA Indoor Field Athlete of the Year. On top of that she received Second Team All-SAA honors in the Shot Put in 2024. One of the best Vikings track & field athletes of all time Egure also finishes her time with the Vikings as the career record holder in the Shot Put.

On her finish and what she meant to the Vikings program Head Coach Luke Syverson said, "Onoyeme came into this meet in a different spot than her previous championships, trying to work in improving a few areas of her throws and unfortunately the timing just wasn't in her favor. She competed well though and still leaves Berry as our only four time female NCAA qualifier. Even though she is just a junior, she wraps up her collegiate career as she is in our 3-2 engineering program. It has been fun to watch her grow and improve and to know her name will be on our All-time lists for a long time."

Congratulations Onoyeme!
