Women Lead After Day One of SAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Berry College women's track and field team wrapped up day one at the SAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships in first place with 73 points. 

Junior Ella Williams started the meet taking 4th in the 10,000m with a big PR of 38:16

The Vikings went 1-2 in the Javelin with freshman Ayla Husby winning with a PR throw of 38.58 meters while Macy Murdock took second with a throw of 36.76 meters. 

The Vikings also went 1-2 in the Pole Vault with freshman Laney Ray winning with a new school record of 3.56 meters while Ella Pine finished runner up with a mark of 3.41 meters.

The Vikings went 1-4 in the Hammer Throw with Malysha Winston winning with a Berry and SAA record mark of 50.15 meters while Avery Jones was second with a mark of 47.78 meters followed by Onoyeme Egure with a throw of 44.26 meters. Madeline Campbell finished fourth with a throw of 43.14 meters while Maddie Denney also finished 8th with a mark of 41.01 meters.

Senior Macy Murdock finished 7th in the Long Jump with a mark of 5.37 meters.

The Vikings will wrap up competition on Saturday, April 25 beginning at 9:00 am.
