WTEN vs Sewanee

Vikings Fall to Tigers 7-0

| By:
MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - On a pleasant Saturday afternoon at the Rome Tennis Center, the women were tasked with playing Sewanee which is one of the top teams in the conference but couldn't keep up as they fell 7-0.

Berry approached the doubles with a new lineup, having placed Saris Mejia with Paige Evans at first and Carolina Hanson with Maggie Cox at second. Both teams extended their points and stayed within reach of their opponents, but fell just short of the finish. Sydney Coppola / Charlee Eidson at third applied poaching and strong returns to wreck havoc on their opponents, but Sewanee still prevailed across all 3 doubles matches to secure the doubles point.

Sewanee kept up the pressure with precise shot-making, hitting the lines and forcing Berry to play on the defense. However, Paige Evans was today's standout performer at fourth singles, finishing as the last of the women's matches. She prolonged the points but found ways to come to the net, ultimately forcing her opponent to react and stumble in key situations. Overall, despite losing 0-7 in match count to Sewanee, the women were grateful to play such a strong opponent in preparation for tomorrow's match against Centre, where Berry will have a chance to win their second conference match and secure a spot in the year-end conference tournament.
