ROME, Ga. - After a few weeks of training, the Berry College women's tennis team was back in action against Rome, GA rival Shorter University on Shorter's campus tennis courts where they fell 7-0.

Carolina Hanson at first doubles came out swinging as they showed their experience in three close games, but their opponents ultimately pulled away in a 6-1 victory through consistent hitting. Second doubles

Charlee Eidson both faced strong opposition, but still performed well by playing aggressively with their returns and net game in 1-6 and 4-6 losses.
Saris Mejia at first singles set up her points really well, but was unable to capitalize on the finishing and break points, as her opponent perservered 6-2, 6-3.

Maggie Cox at second and third singles played their game, but faced consistent baseliners who rarely missed during their 2-6, 0-6 and 1-6, 2-6 losses, respectively. Fourth singles

Charlee Eidson stayed true to their initial strategies, running every ball down as they applied dropshots, first strike returns, and deep groundstrokes in an effort to close the gap, but lost 2-6, 1-6 and 1-6, 1-6, respectively. Sixth singles
Sydney Coppola attacked the net and showcased aggressive tennis in order to sieze the immediate advantage, but lost to a precision hitter 1-6, 0-6.
After several weeks of difficult competition, the women will reflect on their progress thus far, and continue to train in preparation for their next match against Covenant this Tuesday.
