Men's Track and Field Welcomes 13 Newcomers

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Head Coach Luke Syverson is proud to welcome 13 new talents to his incoming men's track and field recruiting class.

Andrew Popp 

Andrew's journey to become a Viking brings him about 2 hours northwest of his hometown of Buford, Georgia. He graduated from Lanier High School, where he was voted Best Male Pole Vaulter in four consecutive seasons. He qualified for state championships in 2024 and 2025, and he owns the school record for pole vaulting at Lanier. Academically, he was inducted into the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society. Popp plans to major in biology during his time at Berry. 

John Settle 

Settle crosses the state line from his hometown of Charleston, South Carolina, to become a Viking. He graduated from Porter-Gaud where he proved himself with three consecutive state championships, and he also holds records in the 4x100, 4x400, and SMR. In the classroom, John made the honor roll in each year of his high school career. He intends to study international business and Spanish at Berry. 

Cohen Cleavinger 

Cohen makes his way to Berry from about 200 miles north in his hometown of College Grove, Tennessee. He is the son of Aaron and Liz Cleavinger, and has three siblings named Jensen, Eli, and Maya. Cohen graduated from Fred J. Page High School, where he won a state championship in 2023 and was named team captain in 2024 and 2025. Cleavinger also was a two-time regional qualifier on Fred J. Page's swim team. He plans to study finance while at Berry. 

Braylon Kirkpatrick 

Braylon travels over 370 miles southeast from Kingsland, Georgia, to become a Viking. He is the son of Rodney and Nakia Kirkpatrick, and he has a sibling named Davion. Braylon graduated from Camden County High School, where he achieved honors and was a member of the Beta Club, Key Club, and was awarded the Hank Aaron Chasing the Dream Foundation Scholarship. Braylon also competed in cross country and played basketball at Camden County. Kirkpatrick plans to study sports leadership and strategy while at Berry.  

Thomas Green 

Green's journey to Berry brings him about 100 miles south from his hometown of Murrayville, Georgia. He is the son of Ben and Amy and has a brother named Trey. Thomas graduated from North Hall High School, where he was a state finalist in 2025 and earned first place in the Georgia Games in 2023. Green also placed second regionally in 2024 and 2025 and was a captain on North Hall's football team. Academically, Thomas received the Georgia Certificate of Merit and was inducted into the National Honor Society.  

Tommy Boudreaux 

Tommy travels 200 miles northwest from his hometown of Harlem, Georgia, to begin his career as a Viking. He is the son of John and Regan Boudreaux and has three siblings named Elizabeth, Therese, and Caleb. Boudreaux graduated from Harlem High School where he was a 400m region champion and a state finalist in both the 400m and 4x400 in his junior season. Academically, Tommy graduated with honors and was a member of the Beta Club. While at Berry, he plans to major in engineering.  

Bryce Toomer 

Bryce chose that home is where the heart is, as the Rome, Georgia, native makes his way to Berry to begin his college career. Toomer graduated from Colquitt County High School, where he was a state champion in discus in 2024 and 2025. He also finished second regionally in shot put in 2024 and 2025. Academically, Bryce earned honors in 2024 and 2025. At Berry, Bryce will major in business. 

Zion Gervais 

Zion takes the six-hour trip from his hometown of Brunswick, Georgia, to begin his career. He is the son of Eden and Holy Gervais, and he has four siblings named Sarai, Yafa, Lesha, and Tobiah. Zion graduated from Glynn Academy, where he played football and was on the wrestling team, in addition to track and field. His accomplishments on the track include setting a school record in 2024 for the 4x200 event and qualifying for the state championships in the 4x400 in 2025. Academically, Gervais was named the 2025 Outstanding Senior, earned the Black Scholar Award, and earned the Glynn County Hall of Fame High School Ambassador Award and Scholarship. While at Berry, Zion plans to major in kinesiology.  

Cody Dawson 

Cody makes his way to Berry from his hometown of Clearwater, Florida. He is the son of Chris and Kristin Dawson. Cody graduated from Calvary Christian, where he was named Field MVP and Athlete of the Year. He was also an individual district champion and a regional champion. He also competed on the football team, where he led the Warriors to three consecutive district championships. In the classroom, Cody won numerous awards, including the President's Award, Timothy Award, and Scholar Athlete Award. Dawson was also a member of a number of honor societies, including the Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society, the Rho Kappa Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and National Honor Society. Cody plans to major in engineering during his time as a Viking.  

Mondrial Whitfield 

Mondrial's journey to Berry brings him nearly 150 miles northwest of his hometown in Macon, Georgia. He graduated from Rutland High School, where he broke the school record in the 4x100 in 2025. Whitfield also played football, where he made First Team all-region. Mondrial will be majoring in secondary education at Berry. 

Quincy Anderson 

Quincy's journey to become a Viking brings him just down the I-75 from his hometown of Alpharetta, Georgia. Anderson graduated from Denmark High School, where he helped his team to three regional championships and a state title in his senior campaign. Academically, he graduated from Denmark with honors. While at Berry, Anderson plans to pursue a degree in biochemistry. 

Keenan Smith 

Keenan is from nearby Marietta, Georgia, and he has four siblings. Smith graduated from Marietta High School, where he proved himself as a winner, leading them to third place in the state in 2023 and placing twelfth individually at the state championships in his senior year. While at Berry, he plans to study biochemistry.   

Lucas Casaletta-Holmes 

Lucas is the son of Mark and Deirdre Holmes and graduated from Fairview High School in Fairview TN.  He was a TSSAA State Championship qualifier in 2023, 2024, and 2025 in Track and Field.  During his senior season, he was the Sectional Champion in both the 100m and 200m and finished as the State Championship Runner-Up in the 100m.  He intends to major in Film Studies while at Berry.
