Women's Track and Field Welcomes New Class

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Head Coach Luke Syverson is excited to announce his 2026 incoming class for the season.

Darby Merritt 

Merritt is a native of Locust Grove, Georgia, and she plans to major in biology. Darby graduated from Strong Rock Christian, where she earned her way into the National Honor Society, Science National Honor Society, and Beta Honor Society. She was also a state champion in her junior year and won the Patriot Award as well. 

Ruby Dailey 

Ruby comes to Berry from right down the I-75 in Alpharetta, Georgia, and she graduated from Alpharetta High School. There, Dailey was awarded Audio/Video Tech Student of the Year, and she was a CTAE Pathway Completer. As an athlete, Ruby was a Fulton County Discus Champion in her junior year and qualified for the state championships and Adidas Track Nationals.  

Kaitlyn Sunderhaus 

Kaitlyn is a native of Brunswick, Georgia, and her parents are Nick and Danielle, and she has a sibling named TJ. Sunderhaus graduated from St. John High School, where she on a state championship in the 1600m and in cross country in her freshman year. Kaitlyn was also named to the GISA Track and Field All-Region Team in freshman and junior year. In 2024, Sunderhaus earned the title of SJCDS Female Multi-Sport Athlete of the Year. While at Berry, Kaitlyn plans to major in business.  

Ashton Childress 

Ashton makes her way to Berry after growing up in Fyffe, Alabama, and she is the daughter of Brad and Brandy Childress. Childress attended Pisgha High School, where she was inducted into numerous prestigious clubs, including the Beta Club, Spanish Club, History Club, Mu Alpha Theta, National English Honor Society, and FCLA. In her sport, Ashton made her name as a field specialist who won gold medals in the discus and javelin events in her junior and senior seasons. 

Margaret Irvin 

Margaret hails from Hollingsworth, Georgia, and she is the daughter of Andrea and Drew, and she has two sibling named Abby and Jack. Irvin graduated from Banks County High School with honors. On the track, she was a region runner up in high jump and the 4x400 relay. To cap off her career, she was a state finalist in the 4x400 relay in 2025.  

Masa Iwanski 

Masa is a native of Augusta, Georgia, and she is the daughter of Christina and Jeremy Iwanski, and she has five siblings named Makenzi, Maddison, Mayle, Alaric, and Aspen. She plans to major in animal science in her time at Berry. Iwanski graduated from Augusta Prep, where she was a member of the student council and National Honor Society. As an athlete, Masa was All-State for cross country in 2023 and 2024. She also ran track where she had multiple top finishes in the 4x800. 

Maddie Denney 

Denney makes her way to Mount Berry from Franklin, Georgia, after graduating from Heard County High School. There, she achieved a 3.9 GPA and earned a spot in the National Honor Society. On the field, she earned numerous awards that include Best Female Thrower and Best Female Track Athlete. She was a state finisher in shot put and discus in multiple years of her high school career.  

Sydney Guinn 

Sydney makes the nine-hour trip to Berry from Jennings, Louisiana, and she is the daughter of June and Adam Guinn, and she has a sibling named Jayce. In her time at Berry, Sydney plans to major in animal science. Guinn graduated from Saint Louis Catholic, where she achieved a 4.0 GPA, earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy in Spanish, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. Athletically, Sydney led her team to three state championships and posted 12 first place finishes throughout her career at Saint Louis Catholic. 

Madeline Campbell 

Madeline is from right down Highway 411 in Marietta, Georgia, and she is the daughter of Tara and John Campbell, and she has an older brother named Aidan. She is transferring in after attending the University of West Georgia and plans to study elementary education at Berry. Campbell graduated from Pope High School, where she was a Scholar Athlete and team captain. She also won the Track and Field Coaches Award in 2023.  

Helen Wesley 

Wesley comes to Berry from just down the U.S. Route 27 in Cedartown, Georgia. She is the daughter of Anna Wesley, and she has a sibling named Grace. In her time at Berry, Helen plans to major in biochemistry. Helen graduated from Cedartown High School, where she graduated with honors as an AP Scholar and earned multiple academic awards. She was inducted into the National Honor Society, Spanish Honor Society, and the Mu Alpha Theta Honor Society. Wesley was also a Scholar Athlete and came in third place in the 4x800 relay in her sophomore and junior seasons.  

Maryl Ford 

Maryl is from Signal Mountain, Tennessee, and she is the daughter of Lane and Jennifer Ford, and she has two siblings named Gracen and Hannah. Ford graduated from Baylor High School, where she helped to lead the Red Raiders to two regional championships. Maryl plans to major in animal science.  

Reese Beckner 

Beckner makes Berry her new home after graduating from Vestavia Hills High School in Alabama. She was racked up numerous accolades such as being inducted into the National Honor Society and Spanish Honor Society. On the track, she won Hurdle MVP in three consecutive seasons and helped her team to a state runner up finish in 2022. Reese was also a Thompson Reynolds Scholar.  

Lexi Greene 

Lexi is a product of Thomaston, Georgia, and she is the daughter of Amanda Greene, and has two sisters named Anna and Autumn. While at Berry, Greene intends to major in psychology. She graduated from Upson Lee High School, where she was named into the National Honor Society and graduated with honors. Lexi was a region champion in her sophomore year and ent to the state championship in each of her years in high school.  

Laney Ray 

Laney is a native of Dublin, Georgia, and she graduated from Trinity High School. There, she excelled both on the track and in the classroom. Academically, she was a Valedictorian, University of Georgia Merit Scholar, a member of the high honor roll, and a Morris C. Johnson Academic Athlete. On the track, she was named Trinity Female Athlete of the Year, she was a two-time 400m dash region champion, a pole vault regional champion and was named Most Valuable Runner twice. 

Abby Reams 

Reams is from Dunwoody, Georgia, and she plans to major in animal science. Abby graduated from Dunwoody High School, where she earned the Global Seal of Biliteracy, a spot in the Spanish National Honor Society, and a spot on the principal's list for all her exceptional work in the classroom. On track field, Abby qualified for GHSA Track Sectionals in her senior season and also ran cross country where she qualified for state in 2023 and 2024.  

Natalie Sinclair 

Natalie makes the one-hour trip to Berry from her hometown of Canton. She is the daughter of Susannah Bonner and Duncan Sinclair, and a stepdaughter of Scott Bonner. Natalie has two older brothers and three older sisters. She graduated from Sequoyah High School, and she was a member of the National Spanish Honor Society, Plans to Prosper Club, Student Government Club, Habitat for Humanity Club, and was the social media manager of the Environmental Club. Athletically, she ran cross country and track and was a two-time state runner up for cross country, 6A state podium for her fourth-place finish in 2022, and was Rookie of the Year as well in 2022. Natalie also helped Sequoyah win the region in 2022 and 2023, all while being named Runner of the Year in her junior and senior seasons.  

Ayla Husby 

Ayla hails from Hoschton, Georgia, and she graduated from Mill Creek High School, where she earned a variety of honor cords and diploma seals from the STEM program, Engineering Pathway, and Healthcare Pathway. On the track, she earned multiple top ten finishes in sectionals and regionals, five of which were in the top five.
