Uhls Named to All-America Team

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - After earning a First Team All-Region 6 honor, junior Riley Uhls has reeled in his first ABCA/Rawlings All-American Fourth Team selection of his career after a stellar season for the Vikings.

On his way to All-American status, Uhls proved to be extremely reliable in the batter's box, shattering Berry's single-season RBI record and tying for fifth in the nation with a total of 70 and also tied the single-season record in doubles with 18 on the season. Not only was Uhl's swing powerful, but it was exceptionally precise, as he closed out his junior campaign with a .392 batting average. The Lexington, Kentucky, native also led the team in home runs with a total of 7 and scored 40 runs himself on a team-leading 69 hits that included a 16-game hitting streak in the heart of the season.

Defensively, Uhls continues to make his name as an expert first baseman. Riley led the Vikings with 304 putouts and 18 assists. The everyday first baseman succumbed to just three errors in 325 chances this season on the first base side.

Riley's most memorable performance came in February at the D3 South Region Invitational against Pfeiffer, where the junior slugger sent through 4 doubles that led to him driving in a total of 7 runs, which sets a school record in each of the two categories.

The ABCA All-America team was first recognized in 1949 and now includes nine divisions: NCAA Divisions I, II and III, NAIA, NJCAA Divisions I, II and III, Pacific Association Division, and high school. ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove teams were first recognized in 2007.
