MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Men's Basketball's path to an NCAA Tournament Title is set with a rematch of last year's NCAA tournament game against Guilford on March 7 at Emory University at 4:20 PM ET.
The Vikings find themselves back in the national tournament after running roughshod through the SAA Regular Season and Tournament. They punched their ticket to the big dance with a commanding SAA Championship win over Centre this past Sunday.
Braxton Benham and Parker Godwin headlined the conference tournament individual awards for the Vikings, with Benham being named MVP and Godwin garnering an All-Tournament Team honor.
The back-to-back SAA Champions will share the court with a familiar foe in Guilford College. Just last year, the Vikings faced the Quakers at their place in the first round of the NCAA Tournament and fell by a final score of 70-87.
Guilford comes into the tournament riding a five-game winning streak. They are led by forward Nick Farrar, who averages 18.7 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. Right behind him in scoring is guard Gabe Proctor, who averages 11.3 points and 4.4 rebounds per contest. The Quakers also utilize former Viking and graduate transfer, Chase Ellis, who provides them with 9.2 points and 3.7 rebounds per game.
The Vikings will look for forwards like Nile King, Parker Godwin, and Mason Lawrence to make a huge impact on the glass, with Guilford averaging over 12 offensive rebounds per contest, limiting second chance opportunities will be crucial for the Vikings.
Look for guards like Benham, Isaac Martin, Drew Winegarden, and Canon Armstead, among others, to set the table for the Berry offense to be successful throughout the game.
