MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Berry Women's Lacrosse team took to the field this afternoon against SAA opponent Hendrix, blowing by them 19-4.
Many Vikings showed off their offensive talent this afternoon in their SAA opener.
Molley Cross led the team with four goals and three other Vikings notched three a piece:
Dani Taraska,
Katie Claire Smith and
Hayden Clement. Another notable performance was
Elisabeth Vickrey's first career goal.
From the first draw, Maddie Dahl owned the field for Berry with seven for the game to secure those offensive possessions for the team. Taraska scored a quick goal and before the two-minute mark the Vikings were up 3-0 before the Warriors added a goal to the scoreboard. That is when Vickrey put her first goal past Hendrix to go up 4-1 at the end of the first period.
Starting goalie
Myskina Bolavong held it down for Berry on the defensive side and was relieved by
Libby Pittman in the fourth period. Taraska had a career high six caused turnovers today as the Vikings forced 22 of the Warriors 27 turnovers.
The second period was a sweep with Berry scoring 8 to their SAA opponent's 0. Up 12-1, the Vikings forced a running clock for the second time of the week by halftime.Â
In the second half, the Vikings added seven goals, four in the third and three in the fourth as they created even more separation from Hendrix. However, the Warriors did find some late goals to spark some excitement from their sideline before the final horn at 19-4.
Berry will be back in action on Friday at Sewanee, game time set for 6:00 PM.
