Box Score MCMINVILLE, OR- The Berry women's lacrosse team continues their Spring Break trip, now in Oregon taking on Linfield for the first time since 2016, defeating them 15-9.
Berry jumped out to a quick start with
Katie Claire Smith winning the initial draw and heading straight for the goal for a quick one in the first 17 seconds of play. Linfield got to their feet and responded in the twelfth minute.
Isabel Fransen and
Dani Taraska brought the life back on offense for Berry as they both tabbed a goal within 30-seconds of one another.
Up 3-1, Linfield answered both of the goals later down the stretch in the first period, but Berry closed out the first 15 minutes of play with a late goal from
Molley Cross to take back their lead at 4-3.
In the second, it was Linfield who captured the initial goal to tie the game back up once again but after that goal starting goalie
Myskina Bolavong held strong and only allowed on more goal for the period as Berry's offense erupted with five goals to take the 8-5 lead at the half.
From then on, the game was all Vikings'. Although Linfield would be able to bring the game back within one goal in the third, Bolavong's 8 saves sponsored by 10 caused turnovers for the team created more offensive possessions.
Dani Taraska and
Katie Claire Smith had a day with scoring finding four goals a piece while
Molley Cross dished out three assists.
The road trip continues for the Vikings at Pacific on Friday in Forest Grove, Oregon.
