MINNEAPOLIS, MN - The postseason accolades continue to roll in for Berry football, with Coach Tony Kunczewski earning D3football.com Coach of the Year and six all-region honors for the players.
Coach Kunczewski led his team to a 9-1 record in the regular season and is on the brink of guiding the team to the final four in the NCAA Tournament. Although the Vikings have already conquered history, coach and his staff are confident that there is more meat left on the bone for their squad.
Offensively, the big boys up front got some much-deserved recognition, with McCormack Langford (First Team), Bryson Hill (Second Team), and Reed Richards (Third Team), all earning their ways to the list. They continue to prove themselves as one of the most formidable offensive line units in the country. The Vikings have only given up 11 sacks all season, while spearheading the best rushing offense in the SAA with 40 rushing touchdowns and over 2,400 yards.
Defensively, Cade Petty earned his way onto the First Team Defensive list with a nation-leading five blocked punts. The senior from Chatsworth, Georgia, also carved out a role for himself on the defensive side, totaling 37 tackles and tracking down one interception as a hybrid linebacker. Michael Clark continues to solidify himself as arguably the best interior defender in the country. The Second Team All-Region selection has 30 total tackles and 5.5 tackles for loss as the anchor for the Viking defense. Safety Chaz Pope impressed the committee with his lockdown coverage and hard-hitting ability for a spot on the All-Region Third Team. The senior has five interceptions on the year, including two in the NCAA Tournament.
