SEWANEE, Tenn. The Vikings men's soccer squad wrapped up the weekend in Tennessee, facing the Sewanee Tigers. Entering the match, both teams were anxious to secure the 3rd seed in the SAA on a rainy afternoon.Â
Entering the starting period, both the Vikings and Tigers began with exceptional starts to their defenses, trading possessions quickly with no lengthy momentum on either side. At around 11:35, Junior Goalkeeper
Cooper Cherry set the pressure on the Tigers with a big time save. Three minutes later, the Vikings offense compounded that energy with a left side shot by Forward
Alex Guzman, which was later chipped in by Defender
Addofo El Bey to put the Vikings up 1-0. Â

With the Vikings up 1-0, the momentum was starting to roll for Berry. Throughout the first couple of minutes, Sewanee struggled to execute a tying goal, missing wide open opportunities early on. As possessions began to trade entering the 30
th minute, the energy in Sewanee started to shift. The crowd was rallying, the stadium pulse was increasing, and the rain started to pick up. Several solid shots were attempted by
Alex Guzman and Forward
Max Albertson, but to no avaiil.Â

At around the 47th minute entering the 2nd half, Sewanee discovered an open lane down the stretch, cutting down the Viking's defensive line. Suddenly, the game was tied, with no clear answer about who would take this one home. Gaining chemistry, the Tigers were picking up steam, and the crowd certainly were feeding their energy.Â

The game had entered a tense period, when all of a sudden, Sewanee scored a low right goal. Throughout the 2
nd half, impressive shot attempts were made by Freshman Aiden Kanclerz and
Timothy Ratokhin. At around the 80
th minute, the Tigers scored yet again, concluding the match with a 3-1 lead against the VikingsÂ

The Vikings exit the weekend at the No. 4 seed and will face the Oglethorpe Stormy Petrels on Saturday in their final home game.Â
