MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Berry College men's soccer team swept SAA Players of the Week honors as
Max Albertson was named Offensive Player of the Week while
Cooper Cherry was named Defensive Player of the Week.
A senior from Woodstock, GA Albertson was named Offensive Player of the Week after leading the Vikings with two goals as they took down Piedmont and Rhodes. In the first game against Piedmont Albertson scored the opening goal and what would prove to be the game winner as the Vikings won 3-0. Then in game two against Rhodes Albertson scored the key second goal as the Vikings prevailed 2-0 in a crucial SAA game. Albertson has also scored in three straight games for the Vikings.
A junior goalie from Canton, GA Cherry was named Defensive Player of the Week after leading the Vikings to two shutout victories over Piedmont and Rhodes. In the first game against Piedmont Cherry played 85 minutes and recorded seven saves while notching his fourth shutout of the season in a 3-0 win. Then in game two against Rhodes Cherry led the Vikings defense to a 2-0 shutout victory playing all 90 minutes while recording seven saves for his fifth shutout.
