Swim Takes Senior Day Win

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry Swim and Dive hosted the Vikings Invitational this afternoon in a dual against Loyola New Orleans, defeating both the men and women on Senior Day.

Prior to the dual, Berry took the time to honor the Viking Seniors with their families for special moment:

Men's Highlights:
Overall the men narrowly defeated Loyola with a score of 122.5 to 119.5, in a senior day thriller.
-In the men's first event, the 200 medley relay, Nick Fonzo, Jack Button, Evan Pelletier, and JC Cook claimed second with a time of 1:39.37 (less than a second behind their competitor)
-Nathan Wright finished second in the 1000 free4
-Freshman Evan Pelletier and senior Ethan Whiting claimed second and third in the 200 free with times of 1:48.85 and 1:51.01, respectively
-Billy Blood was the top finisher for Berry during the 100 back, claiming second (57.22)
-Senior Sam Tate was the first Viking for the men to claim first, taking the victory in the 100 breast (58.53)
-Fonzo followed up with a first place victory of his own in the 50 free (22.32)
-Nathan Wright and Mac Shefchunas helped the team to a first place victory during the 200 mixed relay
-The 100 IM was claimed by Berry holding the top three positions: Sam Tate, Mac Shefchunas, and Billy Blood (56.54, 56.66, 1:00.16)
-Although the lone racer in the 200 back, Nathan Wright finished with a time of 2:15.37
-Berry took the 200 Breast, led by Ethan Whiting (2:20.01)

Women's Highlights:
-A quad of seniors started off strong in event one (the 200 medley relay) taking second place with athletes Molly Heath, Ainsley Coil, Sarabeth Brown, and Kathryn Meier (2:03.75)
- Lily Groves kept the momentum going and claimed first place in the 1000 free (11:29.61)
-Senior, Brown took her first place victory in the 200 free (2:09.38)
-In the 100 breast, Ashley Young defeated all competitors with a time of 1:11.43
-Ashley Young and Ella Quigley aided a first place finish in the 200 mixed medley relay
-Young and Heath took top two during the 100 IM with times of 1:07.31 and 1:08.88
-Emily Martin showed up big in the 500 free, taking down her two teammates for a victory
-Brown claimed another victory over Loyola with a time of 1:01.19 in the 100 butterfly

Next up for Berry Swim and Dive will be the Southern Athletic Association Championships hosted at Centre College on February 12-15.
