MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - The Berry Vikings secured a commanding 3-1 victory over the Berea Mountaineers, showcasing their offensive firepower and securing back-to-back wins at home.
From the opening whistle, the Berry Vikings established their dominance. The first half saw Berry's relentless attack put the Berea defense under constant pressure. Despite a series of promising opportunities, it wasn't until the 27th minute that Berry broke the deadlock. The first goal, was aided by the Berea goalie as an own-goal after a corner shot from the Vikings'
Charlie Stokes.
Shortly before halftime,
Max Albertson doubled the lead with a well-placed shot, further underlining Berry's superiority.
Berry's second-half performance was nothing short of spectacular. With a player advantage, the Vikings continued their aggressive push. Soren Bednar's goal in the 70th minute, assisted by Tracy Moon, was a clear demonstration of Berry's skill on their home field after a down-pour two hours before.
Despite a late goal from Berea's Tobore Takpor, the Mountaineers' efforts were too little, too late. Berry's defense, anchored by goalkeeper Cooper Cherry and later Ridley Moran, stood firm against Berea's sporadic attacks.
Berry returns home this Sunday against the Blazers of Belhaven University at 3:00 PM ET on Pearson Field.
