MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry Women's Lacrosse headed up the street to Division II opponent Shorter, where they fell in overtime 13-12.
It was Shorter who took a big first lead in the opening 15 minutes shooting up 4-1. After blowout games over Spring Break the Vikings were stunned as they were the ones normally up so quickly.
Berry refused to go down though and gathered themselves, led by
Haley Larsen's three second quarter goals and
Dani Taraska starting to get hot with her first of three goals for the game.
Down by two at the half, the Vikings were slowly getting back into their groove.
Taraska and Larsen owned the third and tied the game with six minutes until the final quarter.Â
In the fourth, Larsen would tally her SIXTH goal of the game and
Katie Claire Smith would follow it up to take the 12-11 lead with 6:53 left in regulation.
Shorter snuck a late goal by in the final thirty seconds to tie the game and force an overtime, the first overtime game the Vikings have seen all season.
In a sudden death style, Shorter took the upper hand securing the draw and scoring two minutes into overtime for the win.
The Vikings hit the road to Hendrix this Saturday to take on the Warriors at 1:00 PM in Arkansas for SAA play.
