MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry Men's Lacrosse (4-5 overall, 1-0 SAA) took a great win over visiting Southern Virginia (1-8 overall) in tonight's breezy game with a final score of 10-7.
After his last win,
Addison Irwin earned the start in the goal once again for the Vikings where he showed up for another win with nine saves.
The first quarter gave hope to the Knights as they outscored the Vikings 4-3 in the first 15 minutes of play. After
Michael McKenzie opened up with a goal, the opposing team responded with two quick ones to spark some energy.
Collin Dean shined in the second for Berry, having three consecutive goals, his first collegiate goals as a freshman!
Dean surged
Brian Arp to add another putting the Vikings up 7-4 midway through the third.
However, the team with only one win on the season refused to lay down and hurried two goals past Irwin to make it a one point game.
Ethan Perlakowski had a night, scoring his second and third goals late in the third and early in the fourth to set the Vikings a part once again.
Up 9-7
Michael Beirne finalized the game with Berry's tenth goal with two minutes to go for a three goal lead that Southern Virginia would be unable to answer.
The Vikings hit the road this weekend taking on two SAA opponents, Rhodes and Hendrix on Friday and Sunday.
