DANVILLE, Ky. - Vikings track and field took on day one of the inaugural SAA Indoor Championships and did not disappoint.
Both the men and women's teams are in second place after today, the men have 53 points (12 points behind Centre), and the women have 57.50 and sit behind the Colonels as well.
Three Vikings took 2nd through 4th in the Women's Weight Throw:
Avery Jones (15.47m),
Sadie Phillips (14.68m), and
Onoyeme Egure (14.32m).
Macy Murdock was the high Berry finisher in the long jump with a fifth-place finish and a jump of 5.23m and Kris William's jumped to second in the high jump.
Berry had a big showing in the men's weight throw with Vikings taking 1-4 led by
Dawson Livingston's 17.15m throw, a new school record. Another field even that earned a school record is
Deiondre Wilson's High Jump mark of 6.59m.
In the 400m, Emily Thompson and
Macy Murdock finished second and third, respectively at 1:00.83 and 1:02.10, barely missing first place. On the men's side,
Justin Wilborn advances to tomorrow's finals with the third fastest time in prelims, 52.46.Â
The men's 60m dash was headlined by
Jahari Jones and
Deiondre Wilson's third and fourth place finishes.
Thompson, Murdock, and
Josie Loggins owned the 60m hurdles claiming the top three spots.
Connor Cole was No. 2 in the men's 60m hurdles, right behind the first place Rhodes finisher.
Deiondre Wilson had another high finish, with a fourth place take in the 200-yard.
The women's team took second the 4000m Medley relay while the men took the outright victory from
Grady Coppock,
Jahari Jones,
Ethan Smith, and
Bradshaw Lathbury.
