DANVILLE, Ky. - The Vikings Swim and Dive programs took to Kentucky for a three day event consisting of eleven teams at their halfway point this season.
The men's team placed fifth overall, defeating conference opponent Sewanee.
Men's Highlights:

Nick Fonzo had a great showing at the Centre-Speedo Invite this past weekend. The three day event consisted of him taking the 100 back with an NCAA B cut, a time of 8th in the country (48.52) which earned him first at the meet. He also claimed an NCAA B cut in the 200 back, breaking his own school record (1:48.72) and earning first in the event. He is now first in the SAA in all backstrokes. He led off the 800 free relay in a 1:41.50, with his time in the 200 free which is good for first in the conference. He also posted first in the conference in the 100 fly (49.48) placing second at the meet.
-In the relays, the team consisting of
Evan Pelletier,
Nick Fonzo,
Mac Shefchunas, and
Sam Tate took fourth in the 200 free relay (1:23.87) and the same team with the entrance of William Blood minus Schefchunas tok second in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:22.01. Fonzo, Tate, Blood, and Pelletier kept the momentum flowing during the 200 medley relay claiming another second position with a time of 1:31.86.
-Second in 800 yard freestyle relay with Fonzo, Whiting, Tate, Pelletier (6:54.24)

Ethan Whiting had a fifth place performace that held his prelim spot in the 400 IM with a final time of 4:15.25
-Senior Tate took second in the 50 yard free (20.82)
-Individually, Schefunas moved up two spots from his prelim race in the 100 IM to finish second (52.87)
-Caden Wolf took 5th in the 200 Breast (2:06.13)

Crawford Hightower finish sixth in the 200 butterfly (1:55.81)
The women took 6th place overall but also defeated conference opponent Sewanee.
Women's Highlights:
-The women showed out in the relays with two fourth place finishes, one by
Molly Heath,
Katie Groves,
Ashley Young, and
Sarabeth Brown in the 200 yard freestyle with a time of 1:38.93 and then in the 400 Medley,
Ella Quigley subbed in for Groves as the team finished with a time of 4:03.04.

Sarabeth Brown had a great meet, placing fifth in the 100 butterfly that moved her up one position from her prelim finish, 6th in the 200 butterfly, and first in the 100 free swim off at the end of the meet against the Swimmer from the Cumberlands.

Ashley Young placed fifth in the 200 IM with a time of 2:12.08
-Heath helped her quad place fourth in the 200 free relay with a total time of 1:38.93 and boosted them to a fourth place finish in the 400 medley relay. Individually in the 200 IM she finished eighth overall with a time of 2:13.26. In the 400 IM she had a new personal best, 4:53.84, placing tenth overall and putting her at fourth in the conference.
This concludes their fall season, the teams will be back in the pool January 18 at Emory.
