MOUNT BERRY, Ga.- Berry football (1-0) scored eight total touchdowns in their 67-34 defeat of Huntingdon College on Saturday night at Valhalla Stadium.
Josh Rogers and
Brandon Cade combined for four touchdowns and almost 300 rushing yards on the night. Special Teams forced three blocked punts, all resulting in the Vikings favor.

It only took two plays for Rogers to put Berry on the board first, rushing for a combined 65 yards on the first drive. But a kickoff return for a touchdown for the Hawks quickly quieted Valhalla Stadium to even the score at 7-7 before the first minute of the game had passed.

Rogers continued his dominance over Huntingdon early with another 61-yard touchdown on the first play of the next drive giving the Vikings a 14-10 lead. The Hawks didn't back down when they intercepted the ball for a pick six stunning the Viking offense.

Berry got back to their early rhythm in the second quarter when
Brandon Cade took it 5 yards to the house, giving the Vikings back the lead 21-20. Berry tacked on a safety and two more touchdowns before the end of the half, both quarterback
Blake Hembree and Cade earning themselves more rushing yards. The Vikings went to the locker room leading with a comfortable score of 36-20.Â

A blocked punt extended the Berry lead early in the third quarter,
Eli Roberts securing the ball for a scoop and score for his first career touchdown. The Vikings hit the 50 point mark thanks to a
Nate Lyons 37-yard punt return for the seventh touchdown of the night for Berry. The Viking defense found their groove in the third quarter not allowing a point.
Ethan Corley, Chris Lewis,
Brock Skinner, and
Jake Whitten all combined for 18 tackles.

Quarterback
Nick Best got a piece of the action in the fourth quarter rushing one in 33-yards. Freshman running back
Gage Lee scored his first career touchdown giving Berry a 40-point lead in 67-27. Huntingdon tacked on a last minute touchdown, cutting down the final score to 67-34.

Berry will be back in action on Saturday Sept. 9 when they travel to LaGrange, kickoff is set for 6 p.m. EDT.
