Dani Taraska continued her hot start to the season, scoring five goals and adding a pair of assists to lead Berry's women's lacrosse team to a 19-4 win over Pfeiffer Saturday morning in Misenheimer, N.C.
Haley Larsen earned 10 draw controls in the win, and picked up her first assist of the contest just 21 seconds in when she found
Abby Sprayberry for Berry's first goal. The Vikings (3-0) would never trail after that. Larsen would assist Taraska before three minutes had expired, making it 2-0.
Katie Claire Smith would be the beneficiary of
AnnaKate Estock's first of her five assists in the game as the Vikings took a 3-0 lead before the Falcons could get on the board. Berry would stretch the lead out to 6-1 after 15 minutes.
Pfeiffer (0-2) would score three goals within the five minutes of the second quarter, but those would be the last three goals of the game for the hosts. The Vikings would score four times before the end of the first half, with Estock getting a pair of assists and the final goal of the half to make it 10-4.
Chloe Pender and Taraska each scored from the free position early in the third quarter, with Taraska scoring again in the run of play to make it 13-4. Pender added another off an assist from Taraska, and the running clock was on.
Maddie Mashburn would score just before the quarter horn to make it 15-4 after three.
Estock assisted on two more goals to start the fourth quarter, and Taraska closed her scoring performance with another tally with 5:18 left. Larsen would finish the scoring from a free position attempt to give Berry a 15 goal victory.
Kristina Jones earned the win in the cage for the Vikings with seven saves.
Berry is back in action Sunday at Guillford.
