Rome, Ga. - Berry's men's tennis team defeated Christian Brothers University 5-4 earning a victory over an NCAA D-II opponent Saturday afternoon at the Rome Tennis Center.
The Vikings started the day with a doubles win from
Noah Koch and
Diego Lopez (8-7) and would continue on to win their second match with
Drayton Matus and
Kyle Lutian (8-5). The Vikings lost in a close matchup in their last doubles competition with
Aiden Benoualid and
Connor Murphy (8-6).
Koch and Matus were winners in straight sets in singles play. With Berry needing one more win to secure the victory,
Jake Chapman rallied back after dropping to first set to win the second set (6-2) and force a super tiebreak for the third set. Chapman came out on top after winning the tiebreaker, 10-7.
