MOUNT BERRY, Ga.— Elizabeth Sierzant paced the Vikings in scoring with 17 points, leading the Vikings to a 82-55 defeat of Southern Athletic Association opponent Hendrix, Friday evening in The Cage Center in women's basketball action.
Berry's offense dominated as three players scored in the double digits and nine different Vikings scored to earn the smooth win against the Warriors. Following Sierzant, Sydney Blankenship scored 11 and Kenadie Lee ended with 10.
"I think our seniors did a very good job of preparing, I think all of the players got through a tough week," said Coach Johnson. "We just had the next person step up which is what it is supposed to be."
A dozen points from Sierzant fueled the momentum for the Vikings on a 20-4 run in the first quarter as the Vikings began to pull away from the Warriors. Sydney Blankenship later started an 8-0 run in the second quarter for the Vikings, to double the score at halftime 44-22.
The Vikings would clear the bench in the second half, eventually building the lead as high as 35 before cruising to the 27-point win.
Berry improves to 12-7 overall and 5-3 in the SAA with a three game win streak, while Hendrix falls to 5-14 and 2-6 in league play.
The Vikings will be back in action on Sunday against Rhodes College in SAA play with a tip-off time set for 1:00 p.m. in The Cage Center.
