MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Berry recorded a 2-0 shutout win over Southern Athletic Association foe Centre on Friday afternoon at Bob Pearson Field.
Within the first eight minutes of the game, midfielder
Tracy Moon scored Berry's first goal.
Nathan Carlson's original shot was saved, but the rebound came free to Moon for the opening goal. The Vikings led after the first half of the game, 1-0.Â
After Berry (5-1-3, 1-1 SAA) had a total of five shots (two on target) in the first half, the Vikings kept the lead in the second half with 56 percent of possession. Sophomore
Nate Dulin scored his third goal of the season in the 62nd minute of the game after a bad clearance by the Colonels (0-8-2, 0-2 SAA) to put the game away.
"Our defensive line did a great job. Overall, we were better with the ball than we have been," said Berry's head coach
Richard Vardy. "We were patient, we were intelligent, we didn't quite get as many shots on target as we like, but overall, we made good decisions and played well."
Due to Berry's midweek game with Huntingdon being canceled, the Vikings' next game will be at Birmingham-Southern next Friday at 8:30 p.m. EDT.Â
