Only a few points separated Berry's men's tennis team from victory and defeat Saturday at the Rome Tennis Center as the Vikings fell to visiting Rhodes, 5-4, in Southern Athletic Association play.
Rhodes would start out the day by taking two doubles points, with Berry's win coming at No. 3 doubles in an 8-7 (4) win by
Noah Koch and
Carsten Balao.
Trailing heading to the singles competition, the Vikings would get wins at No. 1 singles from Koch (6-4, 7-5), No. 5 singles from
Connor Murphy (6-2, 6-4), and No. 6 singles from Balao (6-4, 6-2). It would not be enough, however, as the Vikings would see their chance at a comeback win slip away with three singles wins by the Lynx.
Berry will not have much time to reflect on the loss as Hendrix visits Rome Sunday morning at 9 a.m. for another SAA match.
