Game Recap: Men's Soccer | | by Jason Hanes

Berry Plays Rhodes to a Draw

MOUNT BERRY, Ga. - Jacob Antoine's goal late in the first half looked like it would stand up as the game-winner, but a late tally by 10-man Rhodes enabled the guests to escape with a 1-1 draw against Berry in Southern Athletic Association men's soccer action Friday evening at Bob Pearson Field.

Berry (6-2-4, 2-2-1) took the lead as the clock struck 41 minutes. James Tribe dribbled down the left side and found Antoine open near the center of the 18-yard box as the Vikings created a 2-on-1 against the Rhodes back line. Antoine would strike a shot that found the back of the net to give the Vikings the 1-0 lead.

After a second yellow card against a Lynx player put the guests down to 10 men in the 73rd minute, it looked like Berry might be able to hold on against the Lynx (8-1-4, 3-0-1). Instead, after an indirect free kick was saved by the Vikings in the 86th minute, the ball would stay in the Berry defensive end. Eventually, a shot was struck that would be saved, but a rebound enabled the Lynx to collect and score in the 88th minute to equalize the score, 1-1.

Berry out-shot the guests 16-10 and had a 5-3 advantage in shots on target; however, only one shot on either side found the back of the net after 90 minutes of play as both teams picked up their fourth draw of the season.

The Vikings will return to action this Sunday against Hendrix in SAA play. Opening kickoff is set for Noon.
