Men's Swimming by Jason Hanes

Vikings Perform Well in Saturday Meet

Berry's men's swim and dive team had a solid performance Saturday at a dual meet against Birmingham-Southern and Millsaps. The Vikings topped the Majors, 178-43, and came up short against BSC, 153-111.

"It was a great dry run for the SAA Championships," said Berry head coach Paul Flinchbaugh. "Everyone swam and dove well and were very competitive. It seems like just yesterday we started the season and now we're three weeks away from the conference championship."

Highlights for Berry included:
  • Bear Breeze winning an exciting 1000-Yard Freestyle by .17 seconds with a time of 10:18.90.
  • Ross Valdez taking the 200-Yard Freestyle by over five seconds in 1:45.92, and recording a season-best time to win the 100-Yard Fly with a :53.60.
  • Sam Tate winning the 100-Yard Breaststroke in 1:00.52.
  • Ethan Whiting winning the 200-Yard Fly in 2:01.99
The Vikings will next compete at the SAA Championships at the Birmingham Crossplex Feb. 16-20.
