In the first indoor meet for Berry's men's track and field team since the start of the global pandemic, the Vikings had several solid finishes at the UAB Vulcan Invitational in Birmingham, Ala., highlighted by Berry's performance in the 4x400 Meter Relay.
Anchoring the relay for Berry,
Jahari Jones clocked a time of :50.606 to help the Vikings top NCAA Division I foe Mississippi Valley State. The seventh place finish overall in the relay for the Berry squad of
Justin Wilborn,
Jordan Wilson,
Deiondre Wilson, and Jones saw Berry have a better anchor time than Division I opponent Alabama State. The time of 3:30.52 for the squad currently ranks 50th in D-III for the season.
Jones would also finish ninth in the 200 Meter Dash in :22.56. That time beat individuals from the University of Alabama, Grambling State, and Mississippi State to name a few.
Jordan Wilson would place .14 seconds behind Jones in 12th.
In the Weight Throw,
Mason Robinson (13.18), Tony Garcia (12.67), and
Jared Ogle (12.13) finished 11th, 12th, and 13th respectively for the Vikings. Ogle would place seventh in the Shot Put (12.54m), ahead of Robinson's ninth place throw (12.45m)Â Freshman
Connor Johnson (4.15m) was fifth in the pole vault.
Berry returns to Birmingham next Saturday for a meet hosted by Samford.
