Rome, Ga. -- The women's soccer team improved to 4-2, 3-1 in SAA play on Saturday as they defeated Oglethorpe 3-0. They currently sit in second place in the SAA standings.
The Vikings played very aggressive and jumped out to a 1-0 lead just over twenty minutes into play following a goal from
Tori Toellner, assisted by
Anna Salisbury. They would maintain the 1-0 lead going into halftime, but quickly made it 2-0 followed by a goal from
Lyndsey Francingues.
The final goal came right after the second one from senior
Kirbi Mathews, assisted by
Karsen Brantley with just fifteen minutes to play.
Both
Maggie Jones and
Emily Lafferty saw playing time at goalkeeper for the Vikings, Jones starting and Lafferty coming in to start the second. The Vikings recorded a total of 15 shots on goal to the Petrels zero.
