Rome, Ga. – In the final weekend of play, the men's soccer team traveled to both Mississippi and Alabama to take on Millsaps and Birmingham-Southern.
On Friday, it was Vikings vs. Majors with Berry coming out on top 7-0. Freshman
Jacob Antoine had an incredible showing, shooting on goal four times and scoring all four times.
Nathan Carlson, Mitchell Ruggs and
Ramiro Alanis each recorded one goal.
Both freshmen goal keepers, Jose Palacios and
Grant Houpert, saw action in the game with Palacios getting the start and recording three saves to shut out the Majors.
On Sunday, the Vikings took on the Panthers of BSC in the final conference showdown of the season with the winner taking first place and hosting rights in the SAA Tournament.
The game remained scoreless at halftime, as both teams played aggressive on both ends. Berry would score first late in the second period, following a successful penalty kick from
Josh Pruett, but BSC would answer back less than three minutes later to tie it up, 1-1.
Nothing went for either team in the last 25 minutes, forcing overtime.
Four minutes into overtime, BSC's Christian Hernandez connected with a goal to secure the 2-1 win for the Panthers.
Berry will travel back to Birmingham this weekend as the No. 2 seed to compete for a conference championship.
