Women’s Lacrosse Falls in Conference Series Opener at Birmingham-Southern

Birmingham, Ala – The Berry College women's lacrosse team dropped its first two games of the season in their conference series opener on Saturday and Sunday.

Berry faced off against Birmingham-Southern in two games to open up conference play. BSC took game one 15-3 and game two 12-6.

In game one, BSC jumped out to a 5-1 start, but the Vikings made it a 5-3 game following a free position goal from Abby Sprayberry and a goal from Haley Larsen. BSC held Berry to just those three goals for the remainder of the game, leading 10-3 at half and adding five more goals in the second to secure the 15-3 win.

BSC scored first in game two, but Berry's Alexa Medor connected with a free position shot to tie it up 1-1.

Berry's defense was strong in the first half, only giving up three goals to BSC and trailing 3-1 at the end of first period regulation. Goalkeeper Andrea Lindgren recorded 11 saves in the first half alone.

The second half, Lindgren and the Viking defense continued to fight, but BSC was able to put up nine goals to secure the 12-6 win. Lindgren added 10 more saves with Larsen adding three goals and Kate Krauser and Carlee May each adding one.

As a whole, the Vikings took 21 shots, with 14 being on goal, was 23-37 on clear attempts and secured 25 ground balls and 11-20 draw controls. Lindgren recorded 21 saves to BSC's eight.
