Rome, GA – A balanced offense and stifling defense helped secure another victory in Berry's battle to determine the best team in Georgia.
Berry hosted their Peach State opponent LaGrange and jumped out to an early lead by scoring their first goal at just over a minute into the contest on an assisted goal to Colson Burgoyne from Jake Sheerin.
Another assisted goal came only minutes later, by Noah Miller from Freshman Jackson Blaylock. Berry held the 2-0 advantage before going on a three-goal run to end the quarter.
LaGrange held Berry scoreless for the next 12 minutes before Berry would score back to back goals in a thirty second span to close out the half with a 7-0 advantage.
The fourth quarter was another steady diet of dominating defense, solid play in between the lines and selfless offense. Closing out the contest with a 17-1 victory to advance the Vikings to (3-0) on the season.
Leading the charge on offense with 4 points was Jake Sheerin (1G/3A), Colson Burgoyne (2G/2A), Jackson Blaylock (3G/1A), and Nick English and Dillon Marchant with 3 points each.
The Vikings return to action next Saturday as they host their SAA opener against their final Peach State opponent, Oglethorpe University. Game time is set for 1:00 p.m. at Valhalla stadium.
