MOUNT BERRY, Ga. – The Berry College women's soccer team were edged out by Maryville in a 2-1 loss.
The first half saw both teams going neck and neck in the first 15 minutes, creating goal scoring chances one after another. The Vikings best chance came in the 12
th minute as they took advantage of a mis-controlled pass from Maryville to go on the counter, however
Tori Toellner would see her strike saved by the Maryville keeper Abbey Coleman.
The rest of the half would see Maryville at the forefront of attacks created, seeing big saves made by Berry goalkeeper
Maggie Jones.
The second half saw The Scots take the early lead in the 49
th minute, as Hailey Cartt pounced on a rebounded cross. Maryville would double their lead on the 57
th minute after the ball had just crossed the line off the post from a header by Jenna Clothier.
The Vikings would swiftly reply, just two minutes later, after a through ball from
Tori Toellner finds Karson Brantley just outside the box as she rounds the Maryville keeper to cut the lead in half. However, Berry would end up falling to Maryville 2-1 on the night, with both teams registering nine shots in total.
The soccer team is back in action on Saturday, March 13 when they travel to Danville, Kentucky to take on Centre College at 3 p.m. EST.
